PATACHARKUCHI, May 31 - Seven students brought laurels to Pathsala Bajali subdivision by securing top positions � four in Science stream and three in Arts stream � in the HS Examination 2018, the results of which were declared today.
Students of Krishna Kanta Handique Junior & Degree College, Pathsala, secured the second, third, and fourth positions in the Science stream, and the third, fourth and sixth ranks in the Arts stream.
The tenth position in HS Science was secured by a student from Anundoram Barooah Academy, Pathsala.
As soon as the results were declared, the stellar performance of the students brought about a festive atmosphere in the town.
Firecrackers were burst on the campus of Krishna Kanta Handique Junior & Degree College, as the students sang and danced with joy. Shouts of joy turned the atmosphere into a festive one, as the students took out a procession while dancing in the streets to music as well as beats of a drum.
Well-wishers, parents and guardians as well as local people rushed to the institution to congratulate the students.
Niharika Goswami, daughter of Subhash Goswami, a teacher, and Barnali Goswami, and a resident of Patacharkuchi, secured the second position in HS Science with 483 marks. She got the State highest marks in English (97), 98 in MIL, 97 in Physics, 97 in Chemistry, 94 in Biology and 76 in Mathematics. She wishes to be a physician in future.
Bhaskar Jyoti Kalita secured the third position in HS Science with 480 marks and the State highest marks in Chemistry (99). The son of Harihar Kalita and Ranu Kalita of Barbang Keotpara, both employees of the Arunachal Pradesh government, Bhaskar said he will pursue BTech. In his spare time, he likes to listen to music and read science magazines.
Bhaswati Kalita, the fourth rank holder in HS Science with 479 marks, wants to pursue BSc with Physics as her major subject. She dreams of becoming a professor in future. The daughter of Brajendra Nath Kalita, a venture school teacher, and Kokila Kalita, a homemaker of Maharani Nadipar, Bhaswati likes to listen to music and draw and said she studied 10-12 hours before the examination.
Bhanita Roy, the daughter of Mahadev Roy who works in Assam Police, and Banadevi Uzir Roy, residents of Santipur Pathsala, bagged the third rank in HS Arts with 484 marks. She got the State highest marks in Economics (100), and said she will pursue BA with major in Economics and in future will appear in the UPSC and APSC civil services examinations.
Rituparna Kalita, the daughter of Himangshu Kumar Das and Hiramnayee Das, residents of Bhabanipur Kalbari, secured the fourth position in HS Arts with 482 marks. She also got the State highest marks in Economics (100). Rituparna wishes to pursue BA with English as major subject, and aims to clear the APSC and UPSC examinations.
Hiyashree Choudhury, the daughter of late Satyendra Choudhury and Babita Talukdar, an anganwadi worker and a resident of Barbang Pathsala, bagged the sixth position in HS Arts with 480 marks. She scored the State highest marks in Anthropology (99), and wishes to pursue her degree course with Economics as major subject. In her spare time, she enjoys watching TV.
Another student of the institution, Jimi Deka, got the state highest marks in Political Science (99), adding to the glory of the institution.
The principal and the management of the college expressed happiness over the excellent performance of the students. Principal R N Kalita said it was due to the joint efforts of the teachers, the institute�s administration, the students and the guardians.
The institution, which was established in 2006, also did well in previous years. Within a very short span of time, the institution has produced 21 rank holders in the HS examination.
Students of the institution secured the fifth position in 2011, 10th in 2013, and second and eighth in 2017 in HS Science.
In HS Arts stream, students of the institution grabbed the seventh position in 2008, eighth in 2009, fourth, eighth and 10th in 2010, first in 2012, third and fourth in 2013, sixth in 2016 and ninth and 10th positions in 2017.
This year, out of 99 students in the Science stream, 16 got star marks, 54 were placed in first division, 33 second division and five got 3rd division. In the Arts stream, out of 129 students, 28 got star marks, 67 first division, 46 second division, and 13 got third division.
10th rank for Anundoram Barooah Academy: Fardin Rafique of Anundoram Barooah Academy, Pathsala, and a resident of Nararbera, secured the 10th position in the HS Science stream. Son of Rafiqul Islam Mandal, a subject teacher, and Firoza Ahmed, an associate professor, Fardin got 471 marks. He is currently undergoing coaching in Kota, Rajasthan, and wishes to study in an IIT.
