Pathar Naat Mela ends at Kaithalkuchi

NALBARI, March 6 - Pathar Naat Mela�2017 organised by Sunag, an amateur drama group at the paddy field concluded at Kaithalkuchi in Nalbari district on February 28 after a three-day programme.

Sunag has been organising Pathar Naat Mela with a new concept since the last three years. The secretary of Sunag Udhav Chandra Thakuriya told this correspondent that they arrange the stage for the Pathar Naat Mela at the paddy field with bamboo, paddy straw and dried plantain leaves. As a part of the itinerary, they felicitate the guests with saplings, fruits and vegetables.

This year, Pathar Naat Mela was organised at the Mancha Surya Dharani Barman Kshetra. In the Pathar Naat Mela, three plays were performed by three different groups.

On February 26, the play titled Budhuram written by BV Karanth and translated by Bhagirathi was performed by the Tihu branch of Assam Natya Sanmilan. Two others plays performed on February 27 and 28 are Latkan written by Mukul Edipas and presented by Sunag and Bobar, besides Santan presented by Seagull of Guwahati.

The organisers felicitated four senior artistes of the locality, namely Kumud Bhatta, Charu Chandra Bhagawati, Chakra Haloi and Bangshibadan Sarma.
