GUWAHATI, May 26 � The Guwahati Chapter of Passport Seva Kendra (PSK), which has completed one year, witnessed a 45 per cent rise in appointment slots from 5,500 to 8,000 in a month. Police verification completion has also increased by over 48 per cent in the last four months.
According to a statement from the PSK, close to 6,000 applications are processed in a month, while more than 31,000 passports have been issued to date through the Passport Seva System.
Various facilities have been provided at the PSK to ensure comfortable, faster and smoother processing for citizens applying for passport and related services.� �It provides service in a clean air conditioned environment.� Facilities at PSK include a photocopy machine and a snack-bar counter.� A kiosk facility is available at PSK for assisting applicants in submitting their online form, or checking for application status/other information,� it said.�
A government official has been designated in the pre-processing zone to check the documentation and clear applicant doubts related to the same. Many categories of applicants, ie, minors below 15 years, physically challenged, and senior citizens need not take appointment and can simply walk into the PSK (between 9.30 am ��11:00 am) to submit their application. Emergency tatkal cases can approach RPO for an appointment. �
Additional waiting space and facilities have been provided to accommodate more number of citizens inside the PSKs. PSK caters to six northeastern States and 96 districts for which multilingual citizen service executives have been hired.
