Haflong July 27 - For the people of Dima Hasao and the entire southern Assam, there is reason to celebrate, as the NF Railway is all set to start the running of passenger trains in between Lumding and Silchar very soon.
Ajit Pandit, Chief Administrative Officer, NF Railway disclosed recently that the Railways was contemplating to start the running of passenger trains from the first week of August this year in the presence of Sudarshan Nayek, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) after the completion of his inspection of New Haflong - Silchar section of Lumding - Silchar BG line.
It is learnt that a LG special train with 24 new passenger coaches would leave Kamakhya station tonight and reach Silchar tomorrow morning and from Silchar this train would start along with the General Manager, BS Virdi, Chief Administrative Officer Ajit Pandit, Chief Engineer etc., as a trial run which would be followed for a few days.
