Passenger reservation system

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 29 - The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has commissioned a Passenger Reservation System (PRS) at the Paltan Bazar end of the Guwahati Railway Station.

So far there was only Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) facility at the Paltan Bazar end, said an official statement.

It added that although E-ticketing has now become very popular, amounting to almost 30 per cent of ticket sales, window sale through PRS remains a major interface in the North East. In Guwahati alone, NFR operates six PRS centres.

There are a total of 47 PRS centres across Assam, while 134 PRS and 103 UTS cum PRS centres are operational in NFR region. The computerised passenger reservation system has already completed its 25 years of service in this region.
