Pasighat Smart City proposal gets HPSC nod

ITANAGAR, Dec 11 - The High Powered Steering Committee (HPSC) on Smart City Mission, Pasighat chaired by Arunachal Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi here on Wednesday approved in principle the Smart City plan for Pasighat.

The State Government will submit the finally approved report to the Union Ministry of Urban Development before December 15 next.

The Pasighat Smart City Project will be implemented by a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) headed by a CEO after its selection in top 20.

The Chief Secretary observed that Pasighat can be promoted as educational, tourism and health hub.

The highlights of the proposals are smart solar lights, e-governance, 24/7 water and electricity supply, drainage, sewerage system and emergency response system. Creation of pathways, cycle tracks, rain shelters, open public spaces for recreation, parks, mini-Secretariats are also proposed under the city plan. Under city beautification, the plan envisaged to develop Gandhi Market as heart of the city with modern amenities.

Consultants for Smart City Pasighat, Sudhir Malik and Prof Amit Bose representing MSN Infrastructure & Financial Consultants Ltd and DDF Consultant Ltd respectively, through Power Point presentation, gave an overview of the plan for three major components, viz, PAN which will be taken up first, Retrofitting, Re-development Plan which are area specific and activities spread out in five years.
