Parveen Sultana to perform in city on December 7

GUWAHATI, Nov 22 - Eminent classical vocalist Begum Parveen Sultana will enthral the State�s music lovers on December 7.

Organised by The Library, a socio-cultural organisation in association with the Department of Cultural Affairs, Assam, the musical evening will be held at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra auditorium from 6 pm onwards.

�I am thrilled to be home, near my people and to perform for them. Although nowadays, I rarely perform, the stage nevertheless continues to be my favourite. Assam is my heart and soul. I belong to the land of the mighty Brahmaputra and Assamese is my mother tongue. I am eagerly waiting to perform on December 7 before my very own and dear people,� Sultana, a doyen of Hindustani classical music said.

�We want to assure the music lovers of Assam that Parveen Sultana will mesmerise them on December 7 by singing many of her immortal songs, including Humein tumse pyaar kitna, Khoj lahekoi dibi sokhi, Dhunia dhunia buli nokoba misai, Kotodin aaru amar sapon, etc.,� said Naba Bhagawati, president, The Library.
