By Correspondent

KARIMGANJ, Aug 29 In the wake of demolition of the roadside temples, the district committees of the Congress, the AGP, and the BJP along with the Left parties strongly condemned the unwanted step taken by the Deputy Commissioner Dr Angamuthu.

All the political parties of Karimganj in a fax message sent to the Chief Secretary of Assam demanding immediate action against the Deputy Commissioner, apprised the Chief Secretary about the peoples sentiment on the issue.

Excise Minister Gautam Roy and Parliamentary Secretary Sideque Ahmed also took up the matter with the acting Chief Minister Dr Bhumidhar Barman and requested him to instruct the Karimganj DC to withdraw his roadside temple demolition drive immediately.

The district AGP general secretary Subhas Nandi in a press meet said Dr Angamuthu as a Deputy Commissioner has failed to tackle the burning problems of the border district and now he is trying to hurt the peoples sentiments. All the development projects have allegedly been left in the lurch during his stint.

BJP MLA Mission Ranjan Das has demanded transfer of the Karimganj DC. The district Congress is also not in favour of Dr Angamuthu continuing as DC and demanded his transfer.
