GUWAHATI, Feb 17 - Along with other parts of the State, the parental lineage verification proceedings started today in Kamrup Metropolitan district. Altogether 17,419 proceedings will be held under the district covering all five revenue circles.
Today, Deputy Commissioner Kamrup Metro Dr M Angamuthu visited 2 NSKs � NSK 19, Uzanbazar and Model NSK Bamunimaidam, both under Guwahati revenue circle to see the proceedings, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Kshitish Chandra Pegu and Damodar Barman, Circle Officer, Guwahati revenue circle. He interacted with the public who turned out at the NSKs for the hearing.
He interacted with the officials present at the NSKs and instructed them to take all necessary steps to successfully complete the entire �Family Tree Investigation� process. He assured of any logistical and technical help if required.
The �Family Tree Verification� is an error correction process. During the exercise, people are called through a Letter of Intimation (LOI) for the proceedings for which there is mismatch found among names of the descendants of a legacy person. The exercise will be over by March 31. Hearing will be held on all week days.
For Kamrup Metro, the venues of the proceedings are the 78 NRC Seva Kendras. From February 19, every day there will be five proceedings per NSK for the first week. It is worth mentioning that altogether 104 investigating officers have been deployed in Kamrup Metro to carry out the proceedings. There are 22 district magistrates authorised to vet on the investigating officer�s decision and take the final decision on each proceeding.
