By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 26 - Singer Angarag (Papon) Mahanta was today adjudged as the Best Male Playback Singer at the 17th edition of the International Indian Film Awards (IIFA), 2016, in Spain.

Papon was chosen for the coveted award for his rendition of the song Moh Moh Ke Dhaage from the movie Dum Laga Ke Haisha. The IIFA award is considered as one of the most prestigious in Bollywood.

An elated Papon, after winning the award, said, It is always nice to get appreciated for your work. But getting recognition in a prestigious event like IIFA is something really special. I will always cherish the moment.

Papon said that such recognition will act as a motivation to come up with more quality works. It is a great feeling to see that such a poignant, slow song has been appreciated so much, he said.

While thanking music director Anu Malik for giving him the song, Papon, who is in Spain now, said, Such songs are not created every day. The soulful essence of the song, coupled with the soothing lyrics, has made the song an evergreen one.

This is Papons fifth award this year for the same song, after he collected the Best Singer (Male) Award at the 22nd STAR Screen Awards, 8th Mirchi Music Awards, TOIFA and Global Indian Music Academy Awards (GIMA) Awards earlier this year.

Papon was also nominated at the 61st Britannia Filmfare Awards 2016 and Zee Cine Awards 2016 for the same song.
