AGRATALA, June 20 To overcome the perennial connectivity problem, a sub-committee for bringing all the capitals of the north-eastern States under rail and air services has been constituted, said DoNER Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar here today.

Ghatowar, who arrived here on Tuesday, met Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and discussed various issues related to the DoNER and NEC. After the meeting with the Chief Minister, Ghatowar told mediapersons that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had formed a sub-committee to connect all the capitals of north-eastern States with rail and air links.

The government will take a realistic decision after receiving the recommendations of the sub-committee, he said.

Praising the Left Front Government for doing good work, the Union Minister said Tripura has been doing well in implementing different schemes under DoNER.

Acknowledging that the rail connectivity still remains a challenge in the North East, Ghatowar said, The situation has been changing in NC Hills rapidly after deployment of security personnel. The ongoing work for Broad Gauge (BG) from Lumding to Badarpur will gain momentum following improvement of law-and-order situation there.
