Pandey urges IIM to be a catalyst in NE growth

SHILLONG, June 9 - Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development (Higher Education), Mahendra Nath Pandey today urged the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong to be a catalyst in the developmental efforts of the North East.

Pandey who visited the Institute, said, IIM, Shillong should make itself accessible in efforts for the growth of the region apart from imparting quality higher education to the students from across the country.

He said the Institute�s stakeholders should draw new ideas and explore new areas, which would assist in Nation-building.

Director of the Institute, Amitabha De shared the success stories of the Institute during its past 10 years of existence. He further informed the Minister regarding the support through DoNER and NEC towards setting up of the APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis.

�The Centre aims at achieving developmental framework in six key areas such as tourism, BPO, logistics, handloom and handicraft,� De said.
