TEZPUR, March 24 - After the announcement of candidature of the State Cabinet Minister-cum-MLA of Rangapara LAC Pallab Lochan Das for the prestigious Tezpur HPC from the BJP, he was accorded a warm welcome by the party workers here yesterday.

He was escorted by a huge bike rally of the party workers from the Bhumuraguri Bridge and taken to the Mazgaon party office where he addressed the party workers and sought their cooperation to win the seat.

Interacting with mediapersons, Das said that he is grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and NEDA chairman Himanta Biswa Sarma for choosing him for the prestigious Lok Sabha seat where cultural icons like Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, Rupkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwala and Natasurya Phani Sharma rendered their services for the development of the district.

When questioned about his election plank, he said that during the Congress regime, the northern part of Sonitpur district was a disturbed zone due to growing militant activities. However, after the BJP came to power in the State, it has now become a safe and peaceful zone for the people irrespective of caste and religion.

I am optimistic that we will be able to complete more developmental work under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an elated Das said. He added that he would try to solve the long-pending problems faced by the tea garden people and the small tea growers of the region.
