GUWAHATI, Jan 28 - The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Guwahati has congratulated Madhu Pandit Dasa, chairman of Akshaya Patra Foundation and president of ISKCON Bengaluru, who has been awarded the Padma Shree. The award has been conferred in recognition of the distinguished service rendered by Akshaya Patra for the children of India.

In a statement released by the Foundation here, Madhu Pandit Dasa has dedicated the award to Srila Prabhupada, a true visionary who wanted to see a hunger-free world. He said the award would give immense encouragement to the Akshaya Patra team to reach greater heights in its service. Srila Prabhupada was the founder of ISKCON.

It needs mention that Madhu Pandit Dasa designed the first centralised kitchen of Akshaya Patra, to provide mid-day meals to underprivileged children in the government schools of Bengaluru Rural district during July 2000. Since then, it has expanded and is presently providing mid-day meals to 1.5 million children across the country, including Assam.
