GUWAHATI, Aug 29 - The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has signed a memorandum of association (MOA) with the Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) for imparting job-oriented skill development training to people belonging to marginalised sections in North East India.

The project titled Employment Oriented Training and Skill Development Programme for SC/ST/OBC/Women, Unemployed Youth and Economically Weaker Sections of society for 2000 persons under CSR Initiative of Airports Authority of India for North East Region, aims to create a skilled workforce in the north-eastern states which will help the local youths gain employment in the construction industry.

AAI and CIDC have been working together for the last few years in the field of skill development and training in rural areas.

The MOA was signed by Sanjeev Jindal (GM-CSR), AAI and Ashutosh Bhardwaj (Director - Corporate Affairs) of CIDC in presence of Anil Kumar Pathak (member, planning), AAI and DK Kamra (Regional Executive Director - NER), AAI.

Training will be provided to the beneficiaries at CIDC centres and will help skill rural youths, women, SC/ST/OBC and other marginalised sections in construction trades.

AAI, through this association, will be able to leverage its CSR competence to create a bigger and an effective impact on livelihood promotion for people from backward sections and remote areas. This initiative not just helps citizens from the marginalised sections to gain mainstreaming by way of imparting life skills and training leading to their future employment, but also makes them self-reliant, thereby ensuring a better future for them.
