GUWAHATI, Oct 10 - The Pabindra Nath Sarma Memorial Award for investigative reporting on human rights issues and the Kunjabala Devi Memorial Award for investigative reporting on women issues for the year 2018 have been awarded to Diganta Sarma, staff reporter of Sadin, and Chandanjyoti Borah, Nagaon correspondent of Dainik Asam respectively, a statement said.
The awards, given in the memory of Pabindra Nath Sarma, a freedom fighter and a senior advocate of the Gauhati High Court, and his wife Kunjabala Devi, carry a cash amount Rs 30,000 each and a citation.
The award function will be held at the Bishnu-Nirmala Trust Auditorium here on October 12 from 5 pm.
Chief Information Commissioner of Assam Himangshu Sekhar Das and Meghalaya-based social activist Agnes Kharshiing will attend the occasion as the chief guest and the guest of honour respectively.
The function will be presided over by the editor of Asam Bani Dileep Chandan.
