JORABAT, Nov 6 - Three men working for an alleged fraudster who reportedly created a fake travel agency and duped a large number of people of Assam and the North East, were picked up for interrogation by Sonapur police this afternoon.

Following an FIR lodged at Sonapur PS by one Diganta Lashkar of 14th Mile in Byrnihat area, it came to light that an alleged fraudster Arun Jadav opened a fake travel agency and reportedly duped a large number of people of the region. Jadav used to project himself as the owner of a travel agency and duped people by convincing them with elaborate plans and schemes in the name of attractive returns on renting out their cars to various companies.

Assistant Sub-Inspector of Sonapur PS Paban Barman told this correspondent that the men picked up in connection with the case were Ryan Hussain, Gautam Kathar and Rimu. The main accused Arun Jadav is absconding.

Jadav had appointed a few business representatives to convince people to rent out their cars through his company.

I rented out a brand new Toyota Fortuner for Rs 70,000 as monthly return, as Jadav convinced me that he would be renting out my car to the DGM of OIL, but I was not paid a single rupee. Jadav even made me part with my Nissan Terrano which I had kept for my personal use, for a night and disappeared with it. He has remained untraced ever since, said Diganta Lashkar who happened to be one of the victims.

It has been learnt that many cases have been registered against Jadav at various police stations in Assam. Jadav has so far allegedly duped owners of about 250 cars. However, after picking up the three men today, the police have been able to collect vital information regarding their business and have launched a search operation to arrest the mastermind Jadav.
