Over a hundred take part in NAAC-sponsored workshop

JORABAT, June 5 - More than 100 participants, including principals, IQAC coordinators and faculty members of different colleges and four renowned and resourceful academicians, have marked the daylong NAAC-sponsored workshop on �Revised Assessment and Accreditation Framework and Compilation of Self Study Report�. The workshop was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Sonapur College on Tuesday on the college premises.

Dr Jyotiprakash Tamuli, Professor of the Department of Linguistics and former coordinator, IQAC, Gauhati University, formally inaugurated the workshop by lighting a lamp. In the opening ceremony, Dr Devabrot Khanikor, Principal of Sonapur College, delivered his welcome address, while coordinator, IQAC, Dr Biman Patowary briefed about the objectives and the themes of the workshop.

Taking part in the session, Dr Jyotiprakash Tamuli emphasised on an inclusive approach encompassing all the major stakeholders of the institution � students, parents, society etc., while going through the process of the NAAC assessment and accreditation. Dr Utpal Sarma, Professor of the Department of Instrumentation & USIC and IQAC coordinator of Gauhati University, talked about various approaches and initiatives for the students during the NAAC peer team visit.

Dr Dhruba Kr Bhattacharyya, Dean of Academic Affairs, Tezpur University, in his speech said that the learning activities have a visible element for developing sensitivities towards community issues, gender disparities, social inequity, and in inculcating values and commitment to the society.

Deliberating on the theme �Best Practice�, Dr Kalyan Bhuyan, Professor of Physics and Director, IQAC, Dibrugarh University, said, �It (NAAC) is considered as a reliable benchmark or standards of quality for the institutes of higher education.�

At the end of the programme, Dr Dipjyoti Deka, Associate Professor of English, Sonapur College, offered the vote of thanks.
