JORHAT, Oct 6 - Enthused by devotional fervour, organisers of more than 80 celebration committees of Durga Puja have made all necessary arrangements to make their celebration a grand success across the district.
From the historic Burhi Goswanir Devalaya to the newly-registered two celebration committees of Seuni Ali and Jail Road, organisers of more than 80 celebration committees have been leaving no stone unturned to attract the devotees to their pandals which have been decorated with various thematic presentations.
According to Jorhat Central Puja Coordination Committee, 80 organising committees were registered for this year�s celebration in the city and other areas like Teok, Mariani and Titabor.
�However, the celebration committees of tea garden areas of the district have not been registered in this case. Two newly-constituted committees have also been included in our list as they are going to celebrate Durga Puja for the first time at two different locations near Jorhat Medical college Hospital (JMCH) and Seuni Ali of the city,� said the secretary of Jorhat Central Puja Coordination Committee, Sandeep Nandi.
Along with the historic Burhi Gosanir Devalaya on the side of Deval Road in the city, several places of celebrations like Hari Sabha Puja Mandir, Jorhat Puja Mandir, Tarajan Puja Sanmilan attract thousands of devotees every day during the celebrations.
Talking to this correspondent, several organisers of the city said that they have tried their best to sensitize people about the importance of cleanliness through various thematic presentation in their puja mandaps while some others have tried to spread the message of patriotism and appreciation for the sacrifice of our armed forces.
In the past few days, the district administration has urged each of the organising committees to follow the guidelines to maintain cleanliness, peace and tranquillity in their respective areas so that everyone can enjoy the mega festival without facing any problem.
