BARPETA, Oct 21 - More than 600 persons from CPI(M), Congress, AGP, BPF and AASU joined the ruling BJP at Chakchaka under Sarbhog legislative assembly constituency on Wednesday.
A mass joining meeting was organised by the BJP Chakchaka Block Mandal Committee in Sarbhog Kali Mandir campus where the president of the State unit of the BJP Ranjeet Kumar Dass was also present.
Addressing the gathering, Dass said that the interest of people towards the BJP has grown day by day. With the formation of new political parties in the State, the attraction towards the BJP has increased further which has been proved in today�s meeting.
Das accorded a warm welcome to the new entrants and requested them to strengthen the party as well as to serve the people in the future.
Dilip Saikia who has been appointed recently as the national secretary of the party was felicitated in the meeting. On his felicitation, Ranjeet Kumar Dass said that the State expects more service from him. He expressed the view that Saikia, known for his organisational skill and able leadership, will dedicate himself towards the uplift of the State in the days to come.
