Over 500 workers, traders enrolled under Central schemes

GUWAHATI, Dec 7 - More than 500 workers and traders from Kamrup and Kamrup (Metro) districts registered their names under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan scheme and the National Pension Scheme (NPS) in a recently held �Pension Week� here.

The week was organised as an initiative to enrol the unorganised sector workers and small traders of Kamrup and Kamrup (Metro) districts under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan scheme and traders and self-employed persons under the NPS by the Office of Assistant Labour Commissioner.

�As part of the week, awareness programme and on the spot enrolment under these schemes were held at Noonmati, Basistha, Jalukbari, Chhaygaon and Rangia. The Office of Assistant Labour Commissioner also distributed pension cards among more than 200 beneficiaries as part of the week,� a statement said.

The Office of Assistant Labour Commissioner also stated that the unorganised sector workers and traders having Aadhaar cards along with bank passbooks can contact the nearest labour office or common service centre (CSC) for availing the pension benefit.

The Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan scheme and the NPS are meant for the unorganised sector workers and traders within the age group of 18-40 years.
