By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, Dec 12 In a devastating fire that occurred at the Aalo market in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh this morning, the commercial hub of Aalo, Yuma shopping centre along with more than 50 shops and three gowdowns and dwelling houses were reduced to ashes.

More than hundred families are reported to be affected and properties worth crores of rupees have been destroyed. However, there was no report of human casualty. The cause of the fire was not known yet.

Two fire tenders from nearby Aalo Fire Station, Army Fire Brigade and other resources were pressed into service to douse the blaze. The fire-fighting became tough for the personnel as bursting LPG cylinders and combustible materials inside the shopping complex made it difficult to control the fire.

Meanwhile, the West Siang district administration has constituted a board to make detailed assessment of the damages and immediate relief assistances to the fire victims are being worked out.
