Over 100 publishers to take part in Book Fair

GUWAHATI, Oct 29 - The 17th North East Book Fair 2015, which will kick off on October 30 at the Chandmari AEI ground here, will not only introduce readers to the latest creations in the unique world of books, but will also have myriad activities that will cater to a wide range of tastes and interests.

Organised by the All Assam Publishers and Book Sellers Association, the North East Book Fair is being dedicated to the memory of Dr Amalendu Guha, Krishna Kumar Bora, Ajit Baruah and Dr Md Taher. The open stage is dedicated to Khagen Mahanta.

Addressing mediapersons today, Association president Ajit Kumar Barman and secretary Dhiraj Goswami said that around 105 publishing houses from across the State and country are participating in the fair. Publishing houses from Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Ludhiana, Hyderabad, Agartala etc., are taking part in the fair, that will conclude on November 8.

�We have scheduled a memorial function on October 31 wherein citizens will offer tribute to Dr Amalendu Guha, Krishna Kumar Bora, Ajit Baruah and Dr Md Taher. The life and contributions of these illustrious sons of the soil will be highlighted during this session,� informed Goswami, adding that North East Divas will be observed during the fair as well. The date scheduled for the North East Divas is November 2 and a seminar will be held on the occasion. Representatives from different ethnic literary organisations will take part in the programme.
