Our aim is to put up a better show: Jarni

By Sports reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 10 - With the Indian Super League (ISL) all set to get underway on October 20, NorthEast United FC head coach Robert Jarni is determined to put up a better show this time compared to last season.

Addressing the media, the Croatian said, Before I came to India, I was coaching the U-19 and the U-20 teams of Croatia during the last two seasons. But that was a national duty and I wanted to spend more time with a team and not just training camps. That is one of the major reasons why I came to India and NEUFC. I want to spend a whole season rather than at training camps.

Asked if he could replicate last seasons performance, he said, Football is not mathematics. Our goal is to at least do better than what the team did last season. I have given my 100 per cent to achieve that.

The players in our squad are new. They are young and promising players. They have a very good future ahead.

Regarding the Indian players in the team, the Croat who represented his country in 81 matches said, I am very happy with the Indian players but I dont want to disclose their names.

The league will be very competitive and all the teams are strong. It doesnt matter who the opponent is. We have to play good football to win.

Marquee signing Asamoah Gyan said, I am thrilled to be a part of NEUFC for the ISL season 2019-20. I am confident that we can do better.

Asked about the Indian team, Gyan said, Indian team is very good and they know how to possess the ball and they have a good coach too.

Indian football is improving every year but they need exposure to play high level football.
