Orphan Gitanjali secures 72% marks in HSLC exam

DOOMDOOMA, June 9 - Gitanjali Tasha, an orphan and inmate of Keshav Bahety Surjudoy Children Home situated at Gangabari here, secured first division with 72 per cent marks, besides letter marks in three subjects in the HSLC examination, results of which were just announced.

She appeared in the examination from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) under Asom Sarba Shiksha Abhijan Mission, Panitola, under Guijan Block in Tinsukia district. She was a student of the first batch of the school appearing in the HSLC examination.

Gitanjali was provided special guidance by the warden of her school Jayanti Deka Moran, and secretary of Keshav Bahety Surjudoy Children Home Akhil Chandra Baruah.

Gitanjali was rescued by the Margherita sub-centre of Childline several years ago and since then she has been brought up at the shelter home.

Her success made all the inmates of the shelter home, besides the students and teachers of her alma mater proud.
