Ornaments missing from SBI locker

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 11 Ornaments worth Rs 20 lakh owned by PC Medhi, a resident of Sree Nagar Path, Guwahati-5, were found missing from his State Bank of India (SBI) locker under mysterious circumstances.

Medhi, who has registered a case with Panbazar police, said that the locker operated jointly by him and his wife was last opened by them on March 11 after which they left for Canada and returned on July 20. Medhi received a call from the bank on October 7, asking him to visit the bank immediately as something had happened to his locker. When he reached the bank, he was shocked to see that the locker was open with all the ornaments including necklaces, rings, earrings, etc., valued around Rs 20 lakh except a small pouch containing a few small ornaments missing.

We have taken up the matter with the bank authorities for taking up necessary action. A case has also been registered with Panbazar police, Medhi said.
