MANGALDAI, Nov 21 - An orientation workshop for panchayat members, including gaon panchayat (GP) secretaries, under Paschim Mangaldai Development Block, was organised by MAMTA-HIMC, Darrang here on Wednesday under its ongoing project MANCH (Maternal Adolescent Neonatal Child Health) that is part of the ITC Mission Sunehra Kal.
The workshop was held to support the GPs in preparing an effective gram panchayat development plan (GPDP).�
In the programme, presidents, secretaries, gram rojgar sevaks and other staff from the GPs under Paschim Mangaldai Development Block were present. In the programme, the emphasis was given on convergence and collective action for preparing a comprehensive GPDP for the financial year 2020-21.
The daylong workshop began with the welcome address by Kangkan Kr Saikia, the district coordinator of MAMTA-HIMC. In his address, he said, �There are many sectors where the NGOs can contribute to filling the gaps with collective support from GPs, line departments, communities and NGOs.��
He also said MAMTA-HIMC through its project MANCH under ITC Mission Sunehra Kal has been working among the community for system strengthening and community development and hence could play an important role in preparing an effective GPDP by providing support to the GPs concerned.�
