Orange Festival at Tamenglong from December 13

IMPHAL, Nov 10 - The 16th State-level Orange Festival will be held in Manipur�s Tamenglong district from December 13 to 15.

A meeting of the festival�s district-level committee was held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Tamenglong, recently with DC Armstrong Pame in the chair.

The meeting resolved to celebrate the 16th edition of the festival along with the district�s centenary celebration in a grand manner.

The meeting discussed about the budget and detailed programme of the festival and centenary celebration.

Tamenglong is one of the largest orange producing districts of Manipur.

This year the prizes for the best orange growers were fixed at Rs 1.5 lakh, Rs 1 lakh and Rs 75,000 for the first, second and third position holders respectively. Furthermore, an honorarium of Rs 8000 each will be given to all orange growers who participate in the competition.

The last date of submission of application forms is November 30. Any orange growers from Tamenglong and Noney districts can collect the form from the DC office, Tamenglong, for Rs 1000.

Verification of the forms and field inspection will be carried out by the sub-divisional officers and staff of the Horticulture Department from December 1.

A promotional video on the festival and Orange Queen contest will also be released. This year�s festival will also feature singing competition for churches, children mela, Tamenglong Got Talent, indigenous games, camping, photography competition, orange-eating contest and special games for women, among others
