Orang National Park to reopen on Nov 1

MANGALDAI, Oct 20 - The Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve in Darrang district will be reopened for visitors from November 1 next. This has been stated in a press communique issued by DFO, Wildlife, Mangaldai Division on Tuesday.

The National Park was earlier closed in the month of March due to the nationwide lockdown. The park which is also known as the mini Kaziranga is reportedly the natural habitat of 101 one-horned rhinos and 21 Royal Bengal tigers as recorded in 2018.

Besides rhino and tiger, the park covering an area of nearly 79 square kilometre is also home to several other wildlife species including wild elephants, buffaloes, hog deer, pigmy hog and bengal florican, among others.
