Oram visits Manipur

IMPHAL, April 21 - Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram today said that the Central Government in association with the new government in the State is taking up all out efforts to enhance the livelihood of the people living in the hills.

�The Centre has allocated and released around Rs 45.10 crore for taking up welfare and development programmes since 2014-15,� said Oram, who was here on a two-day visit to the State.

The Union Minister was addressing a press conference here prior to his departure. He also informed that a good number of villages in the North East have been electrified out of the total 12,000 electrified villages in the last three years.

During his visit to the newly created hill district of Tengnoupal bordering Myanmar on Thursday, Oram informed about the Central Government�s initiative for the development of the region.
