GUWAHATI, March 1 � The Governor's speech on the first day of the Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly as marred by noisy scenes and strong protests from the Opposition members. The Governor only read out the first four pages and the last paragraph of the 45 page written speech and it was taken as "read".
As soon as the Governor said that the mater of D voters is a matter of concern for the Government, the members of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) stood up and protested that the Government has failed to do anything for the voters who are termed as D voters. The members of the AGP also joined the protests and the Governor finished his speech by reading out the last paragraph of the written speech.
