GUWAHATI, Nov 2 - The first edition of the Guwahati Open Sub-Junior Tennis Championship got off to a colour start at the newly laid Nurul Amin Tennis Complex courts, in the RG Baruah Sports Complex here today.
Altogether 209 boys and girls from various parts of the region, in the age group of U-12 and U-14 are taking part in championship which has been organised by the Guwahati Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA).
Local MLA Siddhartha Bhattacharya inaugurated the championship in a well attended function where Hiren Nath, Commissioner of Police; PabitraKhaund, Director of Sports and Youth Welfare; Subhash Basumatary, Regional Director of Sports Authority of India and Ankush Dutta, secretary, All Assam Tennis Association were present as guests.
Anirban Das, president of the organising body welcomed the gathering while Kalyan K Das, advisor of the GLTA elaborated about the objectives and activities of the GLTA.
