GUWAHATI, Sept 26 - �Our state is now in the developing stage and we have to move forward to become a developed state of the country in the coming days. For this we have to lay emphasis on developing good human resources from our new generation people,� said Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma while inaugurating the Parag Sarma Memorial Open Stage on the premises of the Radha Govinda Baruah College here today.
The stage was constructed with the donation made by Dr Malabika Sarma, a teacher of the college and wife of the late Parag Sarma and fund provided by Dr Sarma from his MLA fund.
Minister Sarma further said, �If a student wants to become a good human resource, then it is time to co-relate with the contemporary knowledge which is available in various sources. Moreover, our teacher community needs to discuss the contemporary issues in the classroom which will create curiosity among students.�
Prafulla Govinda Baruah, Editor of The Assam Tribune who presided over the function held on the occasion, said, �For the development of our society, both teachers and students have immense responsibilities. Nowadays, knowledge available in textbooks is not enough to become a good human resource; rather we should have the enthusiasm to gain knowledge from all sources.�
West Guwahati MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita in his speech recalled the contributions of the late Parag Sarma to society.
Dhekiajuli MLA Ashok Singhal and Vice Chairman of Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority Mukuta Deka also took part in the programme, where Dr Babita Choudhury, Principal of the college delivered the welcome address.
