By Newmai News

IMPHAL, Nov 26 Open sale of petrol products was resumed across Manipur since Thursday with the stock position of fuel said to have improved, first time in a State which has been through over hundred days of economic blockade on the National Highways.

The decision came after a State Cabinet meeting on Wednesday whereby open sale of fuel was resumed without limitation. However, people with jerrycanes were not allowed to fill fuel as decided by the government.

Many petrol pumps in Imphal were full with cars, bikes and scooters buying fuel from early morning. But, in some pumps queues stretching about 400-500 metres could be seen.

After the Cabinet meeting, Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government spokesperson, N Biren Singh told media persons that fuel was being procured twice a week and petrol and diesel stocks would last for 14 days and six days respectively. He also informed that the decision to resume open sale of petro products was taken based on improved stock position of fuel.
