Only BJP can bring prosperity to BTR

By Correspondent

UDALGURI, Dec 3 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the only national party, which can herald peace and prosperity in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), said Jagadish Khanal, State executive member of the saffron party, while appealing to the people to vote for the party in the forthcoming BTC elections beginning December 7.

Khanal was addressing a booth-level meeting of the party organised at the Bandarguri community hall yesterday. The meeting was held as part of the partys poll campaign in each booth ahead of the polls.

The meeting, also attended by Kishore Upadhyaya, secretary of the State unit of the BJP, was chaired by Tarapati Upadhyaya, convenor of four booths of the party.

Kishore Upadhyaya, who is also the in-charge of 38-Bhairabkunda constituency of the party, said that the general public should be aware of the people-friendly activities and schemes of the BJP-led government. Referring to the Biplab Sarmah report on the chapter 6 of the Assam Accord, he termed it a mere report of an individual, saying people should not worry about it as the BJP would shower benefits on everyone irrespective of caste, creed and religion.

We shall abolish the controversial VCDC and hold elections with your active participation, just like the panchayat elections were held in other parts of the State, he told the gathering.

The BJP leaders on Wednesday attended seven booth-level meetings for the candidate of the Bhairabkunda constituency, Birdau Basumatary.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will address an election rally at Monpur in Udalguri on December 4.
