Online system to help voters starts working

TEZPUR, March 13 - As the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in Sonitpur district along with the rest of the State, the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer for Sonitpur district, Laya Madduri has taken measures to use the �Advantage� and �Solution� software which are going to be used for the first time in the State in the ensuing elections.

A press release issued from the Election office here said that for placing any kind of quick objection or suggestion to the administration, regarding violation of the Model Code of Conduct by any party, candidate etc., an online system is already functioning for the people. One can place objection or suggestion through the website/ID election.cloudapp.net/assam-samadhan while the parties or the candidates will be able to place online application seeking help for vehicle facility for election campaign through the website/ID election.cloudapp.net/assam-subidha.

On the otherhand for strict vigilance within Tezpur (Sonitpur) Election District, engaging of concerned magistrate and police personnel, four special teams namely, flying squad, Video Viewing team, video surveillance team and static surveillance team have been formed already. Moreover, for the help of the people, a help line number has been opened (03712-2321125) over which one can ask for any kind of assistance or place his or her complaint during election time, the release said adding for the five assembly segments, nomination papers will be accepted till 3 pm of March 18 and for this task, one returning officer and one assistant returning officer have been engaged for each LAC.

The nomination papers will be scrutinised on March 19 at 11 am. Nomination papers can be withdrawn before 3 pm on March 21. The polling will begin from 7 am on April 4 and will end at 5 pm.

Meanwhile, to make the common citizen aware about the need to play their part in forming a bold and strong government by exercising their voting rights, a Systematic Voters� Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) cell has been formed with the CEO, Sonitpur Zila Parishad, Munindra Sarma as the in-charge officer and a campaign initiated among the people through microphones, street play, distribution of handbills, etc. Already officers are being imparted training on how to conduct the election smoothly.

The DC-cum-Election officer, Laya Madduri has appealed to the common citizens to take part in the election process with their own conscience and not to be motivated by anybody.

For keeping a watch on the overall situation, the Commissioner, Principal Director of Audit, Mumbai, Government of India, Guljarilal and Dr Manuj Kumar, IRS, Government of India have already arrived at Tezpur and are camping at the circuit house here as observers.
