NEW DELHI, July 31 - The Centre has claimed that incidents of online rage against North Easterners is on the wane in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said in a Rajya Sabha reply that no case of online rage against North Eastern (NE) students in Delhi and the NCR has been reported to the Delhi Police, Gurgaon Police, Ghaziabad Police and Noida Police.
However, the Delhi Police registered four cases under the IT Act in 2014, in which the victims were from North Eastern States.
The Government has taken various steps for the safety and security of the citizens hailing from the North East region, who are residing in various parts of the country including metropolitan cities. Advisories have been issued to all States, requesting them to have a stringent mechanism to deal with the incidents of attacks on citizens from the North Eastern States.
