Online classes for students

GUWAHATI, April 25 - The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) centres in Assam and Meghalaya have been conducting online classes for their regular students amid the ongoing lockdown imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The NIELIT covers Guwahati, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Silchar, Tezpur and Majuli in Assam, and Shillong and Tura in Meghalaya, a press release received here stated.

Different online tools like Google Classroom and e-learning portal of the NIELIT, along with social media tools like WhatsApp, phone, e-mail and bulk text messages, are being used for conducting the online classes.

Faculty members are also providing free on-call technical guidance to private schools, junior colleges and the public to start digital and online classes. The NIELIT conducts several courses, mostly in IT and Electronics, including awareness courses for school students and parents, programming courses for engineering graduates and other ICT-based livehood training, Dr Y Jayanta Singh, Director of NIELIT, Guwahati and Shillong, stated.
