One-time grant for this year�s rank holders

GUWAHATI, July 10 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday announced Rs 7000 each as one-time grant for all the rank holders of the High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLC), Assam High Madrassa Examination (AHM) and the Higher Secondary Examination, 2016, who were felicitated here by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Assam Pradesh.

The Chief Minister, while calling upon the meritorious students to work hard for a bright future, said that it was also important for them to ponder upon their responsibility towards society.

Sonowal further said that a positive attitude is the solution to all the problems and he urged the young generation to imbibe the spirit of positivism and contribute towards the betterment of their country and the world.

The function, which was held at the auditorium of the District Library here, was attended by many senior leaders of the saffron party, including State BJP president in charge Shantanu Bharali, Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and Mayor Mrigen Sarania.

The Chief Minister, during his speech, also urged the youths to realise that a rational approach was more effective in facing life and its myriad challenges. He also pointed out that the crucial issues of the State can be resolved only with a rational approach and appealed to the people, particularly the young generation, to work for the interest of the State by taking a rational stand.

On the other hand, Sonowal also asserted that knowledge was the most potent weapon and requested the students to concentrate on imbibing true knowledge in the days to come.

Sonowal also extended his greetings to the guardians and teachers of these meritorious students and expressed the hope that these bright stars will bring laurel for the State.

The students received books and certificates from the Chief Minister.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the Dibrugarh University, Dr Alok Kumar Buragohain, stressed the importance of honesty in life and said that merit without honesty was meaningless.

He called upon the students to imbibe values such as honesty and humility and build a progressive society.
