One-third of shops to be opened in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, May 5 - The district administration here has approved the plans submitted by city�s New Market and HS Road traders� body regarding the opening of one-third shops during lockdown 3.

Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha, while presiding over a meeting with the traders� body in presence of Superintendent of Police Sreejith T, District Development Commissioner Sanjay Dutta and other officials of the district administration and police, said the owners of all business establishments will ensure observation of social distancing and wearing of masks by their customers. Violation will lead to action against shop owners, he stressed.

He also asked other business organisations to submit their plans with regard to the opening of one-third of the shops. The shops can be opened but subject to the approval of district administration, he reiterated.

As per the decision taken in the meeting, all shops will remain closed on Sundays except pharmacies, clinical establishments and petrol pumps. Further, violation of rules in respect of numbers of passengers allowed in three-wheelers, cycle rickshaws, taxi, commercial vehicles and private two-wheelers, four-wheelers, etc. will lead to seizure of the vehicles.

Applications for emergency inter-state travel by private vehicles can be submitted to the Deputy Commissioners� office or through e-mail to [email protected], providing contact numbers and other details minimum 48 hours prior to the journey. The district administration will respond to the applications at the earliest, a release stated.

DHMM provides relief: The Dibrugarh Hindu Milan Mandir (DHMM) Committee has provided food packets to 135 poor families living in ward numbers 8, 18 and 20 of the Dibrugarh Municipal Board.

The Committee also felicitated several cleaner staff of the local municipality at a function held at the DHMM office at Thana Chariali here today.
