One more death in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, Oct 6 - One person died due to COVID-19 and 270 persons have contracted the virus in the past 24 hours across Meghalaya.

The person who succumbed to the infection today is an 85-year-old resident of Ri-Bhoi district. The deceased had comorbidities, Health officials said. The death toll in the State has touched 60.

Out of the 270 new cases, 195 were reported from the East Khasi Hills district, 19 from Ri-Bhoi district, 26 from West Garo Hills district, 10 from West Jaintia Hills, seven from South West Garo Hills, six from East Jaintia Hills, three from North Garo Hills, two from East Garo Hills, and one each from South West Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills. With the new caseload, the active cases in Meghalaya have risen to 2,371. During the past 24 hours, 115 patients have also recovered, taking the total recoveries in the State to 4,606.
