One more COVID-19 death in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Oct 15 - One more person succumbed to COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday, taking its overall death toll to 29, a senior Health official said here.

�A 70-year-old COVID-19 positive patient, hailing from Lekhi village, Naharlagun, died at the Dedicated COVID Hospital (DCH), Chimpu here at 3.45 pm. He was a known case of dilated cardiomyopathy with severe right ventricular failure and collapsed right lung. The patient, who was referred from TRIHMS, Naharlagun, and admitted to the DCH, Chimpu, on October 6, died due to septic shock and multi-organ failure,� State Surveillance Officer (IDSP) Dr Lobsang Jampa said. The body was later handed over to the relatives in a body bag after sanitization as per the SOP.

Meanwhile, 207 more people have tested positive for the virus on the day, taking the COVID-19 tally to 12,768, a bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services stated here.

In contrast, 121 patients have been cured of the disease, raising the total number of recoveries to 9,694. The recovery rate now stands at 75.92 per cent.

Of the fresh cases, 64 have been reported from the Itanagar Capital Complex, 24 from Lower Dibang Valley, 18 from West Siang, 14 from West Kameng, 13 from East Siang, 12 from Changlang and 11 from Tirap.

Lohit recorded nine cases, Leparada eight, Lower Subansiri six, Siang and Namsai five each, and Pakke Kessang and Upper Siang four each, while Anjaw, Kurung Kumey, Papumpare and Longding registered two cases each, and Kamle and Tawang one each.

As many as 170 of the total positive cases are asymptomatic and 37 symptomatic, according to the bulletin. Among the discharged cases, 50 have been recorded in the Itanagar Capital Complex, 15 in Changlang, seven in Lower Siang, and six each in Tawang, Namsai, West Siang and Lower Subansiri.

At the moment, the State has 3,045 active COVID-19 cases, including 2,132 under home isolation. The rest are recuperating in various COVID care facilities across the State.
