HATSINGIMARI, May 8 � With the recovery of one more body today the number of total bodies recovered in connection with the April 30 Medertary boat mishap rose to 41, official sources in Medertary said.
Meanwhile, the owner and three boatmen of the ill-fated boat involved in the April 30 tragedy were arrested by the Dhubri police yesterday from Dhubri town. Their interrogation is on.
Meanwhile, five lady MLAs of the State today visited Medertary and took stock of the situation. The team, led by Amiya Gogoi, comprised Arati Kachari Hazarika, Bismita Gogoi, Monika Bora and Gul Akhtara Begum.
Dhubri police yesterday arrested Said Ali Bepari, owner of the ill-fated boat involved in the mishap and his three employees � Saidur Rahman, Shah Alam Sheikh and Golabuddin � from their hideout. Though interrogation of these persons is on, information concerning people on board the boat and other aspects are awaited, said police sources.
The Fakiraganj Police Station has already registered a case (No 55/ 12 Under Sections 280/338/304/427/34 of the IPC) against them at the instance of the SP Dhubri, sources said.
