One Little Finger wins award at 9th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival

JORHAT, April 30 - Internationally-acclaimed US-based film-maker musician, singer and songwriter Rupam Sarmah � originally from Assam (Jorhat) � has added another feather to his cap.

One Little Finger, the movie directed and written (script) by Rupam which has been made with 80 differently-abled persons, today achieved another honour � Honourable Jury Mention at the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival � held in New Delhi today.

It may be mentioned here that One Little Finger recently won the �Best film for inspiration making a global impact- Founder's Award� at the Riverside International Film Festival held in Los Angeles, recently.

Rupam�s younger brother Nayan Jyoti Sarmah, a State Bank of India official and treasurer of the Assam Table Tennis Association, told The Assam Tribune today from Delhi that he received the award on behalf of his brother today. He (Nayan Jyoti Sarmah) is also the executive producer of the film.

�It is a great honour for me to receive the award on behalf of my brother whose work is getting recognition in the global and national level,� Nayan Jyoti observed.

He said that he considered himself be fortunate to be associated with the project (making of the film) which was an attempt to throw light on the challenges faced by the differently-abled people. Nayan Jyoti said that the theme of the movie was to find �Ability in Disability�.

The Dada Saheb Film Festival is important for Indian film industry as it is organised on April 30 each year to mark the birth anniversary of the Father of Indian Cinema, Dada Saheb Phalke. The festival is regarded as among most prestigious festivals in India.

The festival attracts filmmakers from across India and over 90 nations. The festival has screening sections for feature films, short films, documentaries, Nayan said. He added that there were 710 films from around the world selected for the festival.

One Little Finger, has been officially selected in various international festivals including France, New York, San Diego, Florida, Los Angeles, Delhi and other places and will be premiered at March� du Film Festival de Cannes in France on May 16 and 17 next.

The film will be officially released in the United States on August 16 next and India release is in September this year.
