DIBRUGARH, April 17 - Irate public today burnt down the house of one Madan Munda in Rohomoria Genisuk under Rohmoria PS after he killed one Padmeshwar Dutta with an axe last night.
Both Padmeshwar Dutta (50) and Madan Munda (42) were reportedly feasting together in latter�s house as part of the Bihu celebration. They suddenly got entangled in a quarrel, which soon developed into a violent physical fight when Madan Munda reprotedly hit Dutta�s head with an axe. Both were reportedly drunk. Dutta died on the spot.
In the wake of the killing, communal tension was building up in the area. Anticipating communal flare-up, district police administration rushed contingents of police battalion and the CRPF in the area last night with Additional Superintendent of Police Surajeet Singh Paneswar and local Circle Officer Manashjyoti Nath. Nevertheless, Munda�s house was set ablaze. Munda, who was on the run was arrested by the police today from a nearby village.
