One in quarantine centre commits suicide in Dhubri

DHUBRI, June 22 - After detection of seven new COVID-19 cases during the last 24 hours in the district, the total number of coronavirus cases in Dhubri jumped to 371.

The COVID-19 positive patients have been admitted to Dhubri Civil Hospital, Diporkhuti Subdivisional Civil Hospital, Moterjhar Model Hospital, Bogribari Model Hospital and in FAAMCH, Barpeta. Meanwhile, 168 persons from the district, who were earlier found COVID-19 positive, have recovered and are in home quarantine, medical officials said.

Meanwhile, one person who was quarantined in a private lodge was found hanging on Monday morning. Sunil Roy (50) was kept under quarantine at room number 107 of Aziz Lodge located at Dr Zaki Hussain Road, Ward number 7, in Dhubri town. Roy was found hanging by a hotel staff who went to the room to serve breakfast on Monday morning.

Circle Officer of Dhubri, Joy Sankar Sharma, said that the swab of the deceased was collected on June 14 and his report was found negative on June 17. However, he decided to stay at the lodge on June 19 as he was directed to stay in home quarantine after his test report.

�He worked as a security guard at a biscuit factory in Siliguri,� said one of his relatives.

Till today, 33,095 samples have been tested in Dhubri district, out of which 29,800 samples have been found negative and 2,924 reports are still awaited.
