RAHA, April 28 � Movement of all kinds of vehicles on National Highway-37 was completely disrupted for over two hours today when the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) activists of Raha and Nagaon district units along with the local people blocked the NH 37 at Raha Chariali here.
More than 500 people blocked the highway at 5:30 pm by standing on the middle of the road shouting slogans against National Highway Authority and the State government for not removing the �Toll Plaza� at Rontholi on NH 37. The agitators also alleged exorbitant road tax collection at the said Toll Plaza from all kinds of vehicles.
Top police officials of the Nagaon district administration including the Raha Circle Officer rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control but it did not work.The agitators burnt tyres to stop the movement of vehicles. Later, the police resorted to lathi-charge in which one woman was injured. Raju Bora, KMSS State president who led the agitators was arrested by the police. Meanwhile, several organizations of Raha have condemned the police atrocities on the agitators.
