JORABAT, Dec 19 - A person travelling in a Tata DI vehicle transporting fish from Guwahati to Shillong was critically injured when the vehicle turned turtle on the National Highway 40 at Umsaw under the Nongpoh PS this afternoon.
The mishap occurred when the driver could not control the vehicle while negotiating a turn. The vehicle was running at high speed, according to eyewitnesses.
The injured was rushed to the Nongpoh Civil Hospital in a serious condition. The driver and the handyman fled the spot abandoning the injured, who is the owner of the fishes loaded in the vehicle.
Following the accident, the vehicle blocked two lanes of the four-lane NH 40 for a couple of hours, forcing hundreds of vehicles to use the other two lanes.
