MANGALDAI, April 1 - One Mirza Mohammad Saleh s/o Aainul Hoque, a resident of village No. 1 Sialmari under Dalgaon police station was arrested on Monday in connection with a case where the manager of Canara Bank, Mangaldai branch Ananda Kumar was attacked at Hoque�s residence on Saturday evening.
However the prime accused in the case Aainul Hoque, the father of the arrested youth and VDP secretary of the village is still absconding. It may be mentioned here that bank manager Kumar was attacked allegedly in a pre-planned manner with blunt iron items, bricks etc., at the residence of the accused Aainul Hoque in Saturday evening after being invited by the later to repay the overdue amount of bank loan issued to purchase his tractor. The seriously injured bank manager was rescued by police with the help of some local student leaders in a semi-conscious state.
Later, the victim lodged an FIR against Aainul Hoque and his family members engaged in the organised attack. Meanwhile, talking to this correspondent, Superintendent of Police, Darrang Amrit Bhuyan stated that ASP (HQ), Darrang Ujjjal Protim Baruah is supervising the case. One accused has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody and other absconding accused will also be booked very soon. The police in this connection has already registered a case (No. 121/19) U /S 120(B), 420/333 /307 IPC in Dalgaon PS.
