DIMAPUR, Aug 21 - A 30-year-old man was apprehended at Chekiye village here on charges of molesting and attempting to kidnap, rape and murder a minor girl yesterday. According to police, the incident took place at around 7.30 am when the 13-year-old girl was returning home after attending the Sunday school service.
The accused identified as Tohuto of 5th Mile Model village was apprehended by the villagers and handed over to the police. Police said that the victim�s father filed a complaint at Dimapur women police station against the accused soon after the incident.
The accused identified as one Tohuto had come in a vehicle and allegedly tried to take the girl away while she was returning from Sunday school service. But the girl�s cry for help alerted residents during which he got away.
He later returned to the spot with a friend in a bike reportedly looking for his mobile phone and was identified by the girl.
